When you begin your ISO journey with Citation, you'll be assigned a dedicated ISO consultant who will support you through the certification process. Here's what to expect from your consultancy appointment.
What does the appointment cover?
Your consultancy appointment will typically include the following activities:
1. Initial meeting and overview Your consultant will meet with you to gain an understanding of your organisation β how it operates, your current systems, and your existing procedures. This helps them tailor the ISO implementation to your specific business.
2. Gap analysis Using the information gathered in the initial meeting, your consultant will assess your current practices against the requirements of the relevant ISO standard (such as ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, or ISO 45001:2018). They will prepare a consultancy report detailing any areas of non-compliance or gaps that need to be addressed.
3. Agreeing on revised procedures Your consultant will discuss the gap analysis findings with you and work with you to agree on the changes needed to bring your organisation into compliance. This is a collaborative process β you'll agree on practical steps that work for your business.
4. Documenting your procedures Your consultant will help you document the procedures that directly affect the requirements of the ISO standard and that are already in operation within your organisation. These will form part of your management system documentation in Atlas ISO.
5. Records audit Your consultant will review a representative sample of your existing records to check whether your day-to-day operations are carried out in line with the documented procedures. This helps identify any practical gaps between what's written down and what actually happens.
How to prepare To get the most out of your appointment, it's worth gathering the following in advance:
An overview of your key business processes
Any existing policies, procedures, or quality documentation
A list of key staff involved in your ISO implementation
After the appointment Following your consultancy session, your consultant will outline the next steps and update the Consultancy Checklist in Atlas ISO so you can track your progress towards certification.
