How to Update an Employee’s Salary to Reflect in Their Employment Contract
Overview
When managing employee salaries in Atlas, it is essential to ensure updates are performed in the correct sections of the employee's profile. These updates ensure that the new salary details automatically populate the respective fields in the employment contracts. Incorrect edits made directly on employment contract templates may not save or reflect during distribution, so it is crucial to follow the appropriate workflow.
Step-by-Step Instructions for Updating Salary
Follow these steps to update an employee’s salary so it is correctly reflected in their employment contract:
Access the Employee’s Profile: - Navigate to Employee/Workers > Manage. - Locate the employee’s name and click the pink eye icon next to it to open their profile.
Open Career and Salary Section: - Click on Career and Salary (or Career and Training, depending on terminology used in your version).
Enter the Salary Details: - Scroll to the bottom to find the salary entry option. - Enter the new salary details.
Mark the Current Salary Checkbox: - Ensure you tick the Current Salary checkbox. This identifies the salary as ongoing and removes the need to set an end date if the employee is active.
Save Changes: - After entering the details and marking the checkbox, click Save Changes.
After completing the above steps, the updated salary will seamlessly pull through to the employment contract. When the contract is generated or distributed, it will include the updated pay information.
Key Consideration for Contract-Salary Edits
If you attempt to edit any salary-related information directly in an employment contract (instead of via the employee profile), those changes will not save successfully or appear in distributed contracts. Always ensure salary updates are made in the Employee Profile, as described above, to avoid discrepancies.
FAQ
What if the form asks for a salary finish date, but the employee is still active?
If the employee is active and their salary is ongoing, simply tick the Current Salary checkbox. This signals that no end date is needed.
